PROJECT ENGINEER

DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

The project engineer will assist in the planning and facilitation of construction activities to ensure the project is completed within budget and follows the schedule and deadlines. This position will be responsible for upholding project standards such as safety regulations, creating project implementation plans, and adjusting specifications for various elements of a project. Project Engineers at Project X will be expected to understand the concepts of scheduling and planning a project and the cost implications of schedule and/or resource impacts.

Our team members work to understand the Voice of The Customer and work to deploy a plan that matches those goals. These Project Engineers are responsible for tracking program or project guidelines, assuring that lessons are captured, and feeding information back to the stakeholders to assure the project is progressing in a positive direction.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure specifications are met, get clarification on certain tasks, and maintain a deadline

  • Delegate task and divide work among the team to complete the job efficiently

  • Manage a budget and adjust as necessary

  • Track performance of the team

  • Record, properly document, and update job progress and work completed to management and clients

  • Analyze the completion of key tasks

  • Provide guidance to Project Managers and Team members on Project Controls issues

  • Analyze trends and problems in relation to cost and/or schedule data

  • Prepare cost-trend estimates and assist in the preparation of change orders

  • Work with team members to analyze problems and recommend solutions

  • Prepare budget request documents to include opening of cost codes and providing subcontract accrual data as required

  • Review time charges and coordinate corrections, as necessary

  • Utilize Buildertrend Software for central communication regarding all project aspects

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a related field preferred; or 4 years of work experience in Project Engineering

  • Completion of relevant apprenticeship

  • 1 - 3 years of project engineer related experience

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to read/interpret/analyze construction schedules

  • Excellent human relations skills and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Advanced document controls experience

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent followership

  • Working knowledge of Office 365 Suite

  • Working knowledge of job cost tracking

  • Ability to adapt to new innovations and processes

  • Broad understanding of industry
